The Mahakali is an important area of one of the 14 zones of Nepal. The Mahakali zone of Nepal is marked by the Mahakali River and it lies on the western part of Nepal. Mahakali shares its borders with India. 

The headquarters of Mahakali is located in Amaragadhi. Mahendranagar is regarded as the largest city of Mahakali zone. 


The Mahakali zone is fragmented into four districts, which include Darchula district, Baitadi District, Dadekdhura District and Kanchapur District. Apart from Mahendranagar, there are few important towns in the Mahakali zone, which include Darchula Bajar, Patan and Dashratchand. Mahakali also contain on of Nepal's wild life reserve. This wild life Reserve has now been converted into a national park. 

Mahakali is one of the main goddess of the Hindus and it is also called Kali in the Nepali language. The Shey Phoksundo national park of Nepal is a noted place for snow leopards. This park is also the largest park of Nepal. The area of the park extends upto 3555 square kilometers. 

The Karnali area also has another national park, which is the Rara National Park. This national park consist of the Rara Lake. This Rara Lake is the largest lake of Nepal. The area of the Rara National Park is 106 square kilometers. The small area of Karnali is fragmented in to five districts, which include Mugu district, Humla district, Kalikot district, Jumla district and Dolpa district. The scenic splendor of the national park attract a large number of tourists from different parts of the globe.
 


Bheri is one of the important regions in Nepal. Among the various other 14 regions of Nepal, Bheri has made a special place for itself. If a political division of the country is made,

Bheri lies in the mid-western part of Nepal. There are some small cities and towns in this region. Some of the important cities include Narayan Municipality, Gulariya, Birendrnagar, Jajarkote, Chinchu and some more. 

Bheri zone in Nepal is again divided into five different districts. The names of the districts are as follows:
These districts have their headquarters at other places. Nepalgunj is the district headquarters of the Banke district. Bardiya District has its headquarters at Gularia. Dailekh District has its headquarters at Dailekh itself. Jajarkot is the district headquarters of the Jajarkot district. Surkhet district has its district headquarters at Birendranagar. 

Mahendra Airport is located in the city of Nepalgunj, which enables connectivity between various cities of the country. Apart from the airways, all the cities of the Bheri region are also well connected by a network of roadways across the hills and mountains. As a mountainous region, the Bheri Zone also attracts a number of adventure lovers, trekkers and mountaineers from every corner of the earth. 

Rapti is a Midwestern region or anchal, that is, the 1st order administrative district, of Nepal. The region of Rapti comprises of 5 districts or jilla. These are:

Rapti has its headquarter situated at Tulsipur or Dang. The largest city in Rapti is Ribhuvannagar or Ghorahi. Chaurajhari, Musikot, Lamahi, Tulsipur, Liwang and Bijuwar are the other cities of the region.

The district of Dang combines Deukhuri, Terai valleys and Dang. It also comprises some parts of the mountain ranges lying adjacent to the region. The Siwalik range lying in the Rapti region has an elevation of about 600 meters approximately and it separates to form 2 sub ranges. The southern Dundwa range, beginning some kilometers north of India-Nepal border, divides the Deukhuri Valley and the Gangetic Plains. 

River Rapti meandering through the Deukhuri Valley finally flows into River Karnali near Gorakhpur in India. Babai, a tributary of Karnali, drains the Dang Valley. 

Salyan, Rolpa and Pyuthan are positioned in and to north of Mahabharat Range. Pyuthan district, inhabited by the Newar castes and the Brahman-Chetri along Jimruk Khola has extensive rice fields district too has rice fields in the lowlands and the region is populated by the caste Hindus and the Kham peoples live on the uplands. 

Rolpa district is inhabited by the Kham Magars living in small villages. They rear goats, sheep and and cattle. They grow fruit such as asian pear and citrus. Rukum has sparse population; the Kham herdsmen mainly inhabit the region during the summer seasons. 


Dhawalagiri is also known by another name, Dhaulagiri. It is one of the fourteen zones in Nepal. Administratively, Dhawalagiri comes under the western division of Nepal. As every region and zone in Nepal has a headquarter,

Mustang District 
Dhawalagiri has its headquarter at Baglung. 

The place is renowned for the famous mountain peak Mt Dhaulagiri. Due to the presence of rough mountainous terrain and steep slopes, there are many trekking areas in this particular zone of Nepal. Some of the famous trekking areas in Dhawalagiri include Muktinath, Mustang and Kali Gandaki Valley. People from different countries gather at the region for participating in trekking and expeditions. 

Dhawalagiri is distributed into four districts and each district has its headquarter. The four districts of the region include:
  • Parbat District
  • Myagdi District
  • Baglung District
The headquarter of the Mustang District is located in Jomosom, while the Parbat District has the headquarter at Kusma. Beni is the headquarter of the Myagdi District and that of the Baglung District is at Baglung. 

There is also a hunting reserve in Nepal and is called Royal Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve. This famous hunting reserve is located in Baglung and spread over Myagdi district in the Dhawalagiri region of Nepal. 


Lumbini is basically an area for pilgrimage situated in the Lumbini zone of Nepal. The area of Lumbini is found located in the district of Rupandehi. The place of Lumbini is located at a distance of 25 kilometers east of the,

municipality of Kapilavastu. The place of Lumbini is very famous because it is the place of birth of Lord Buddha. Presently, the tourists can find the Puskarini pond and the remains of Kapilavastu in the area of Lumbini. 


In the region of Lumbini the tourists can get to see lots of Buddhist temples including the famous Mayadevi Temple. Apart from this there are also plenty of other temples, which are under construction. It was in Lumbini that Lord Buddha lived for 29 years. 

During the time of Buddha, the Limbini Park was located between the Kapilavastu and Devadaha. Due to its historical impact, this place attract a large number of tourists of all ages from different parts of the world. Presently, Lumbini has been considered as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO. The sacred place of Lumbini is full of Buddhist monasteries, Asokan Pillar, a sacred Bodhi Tree, an ancient bathing pond. The presence of various items related to Lord Buddha attract a large number of tourists from distant areas to come to this place and experience the beauty.
 


The country of Nepal is divided in different zones. Gandaki in Nepal is one of the fourteen zones in the country of the mountains. This region also lies in the western administrative region of Nepal. 

The particular Nepal region has been named after the seven tributaries, which comprises the Gandaki River. The region has both historical and geographical significance. The first poet of Nepal, Bhanubhakta Acharya was born in the Gandaki region. 


Pokhara is the zonal as well as the regional headquarter of the Gandaki region of Nepal. There are six districts in Gandaki and each district has its own headquarter. The six districts in the region along with their headquarters are as follows:
  • Manang District
  • Tanahu District
  • Lamjung District
  • Gorkha District
  • Syangja District
  • Kaski District
The Manang District has its headquarter at Chame, while that of the Tanahu District is at Damauli. Besishar is the headquarter of the district of Lamjung. The Gorkha District has the head office at Gorkha and that of the Syangja is at Syangja. Pokhra is the headquarter of the Kaski District. 

Gandaki has a typical cultural and regional background. There are certain special features in the cultural celebrations of the region. The Gurungs of Nepal have made a place for themselves as efficient Gurkha fighters. 


Narayani is in the country of Nepal and it is a zone of the country. The Narayani zone has the major cities of Birganj, Bharatpur, Hetauda Gaur, Ratnagar, Kalaia.

The most popular and oldest National Park of the country is situated in the zone of Narayani. The National Park named Chitwan which has a total area of 932 square kilometers is famous for the Indian white Rhinoceros and the Bengal Tiger. 

The zone of Narayani is one of the most affluent zones of the country. It has a very vibrant market for trade with the country of India. The capital of the zone of Narayani is Hetauda. The zone of Narayani is divided into five districts. They districts of Narayani are:
  • Rautahat District
  • Parsa District
The district of Bara has the population of 559,135 as recorded in the census of the year 2001. The district covers an area of 1,190 square kilometers. The district of Makwanpur has Hetauda as its head quarters. This district had the population of 392,604 as recorded in the census of 2001. 

Chitwan district has Bharatpur as its head quarters. The district of Chitwan is situated in the foothills of Nepal and still remains in peace as a residue of the Terai region. Rautahat is also a district of the zone of Narayani. The headquarters of this district is Gaur. Rautahat had a population of 545,132 as recorded in the year 2001 census. The Parsa district of the Narayani Zone has Birganj as its head quarters. The district of Parsa has the population of 497,219 as recorded in the year 20041 census and the district has the area of 1,353 square kilometers. 


Bagmati zone is in Nepal and it has derived its name from the river Bagmati. Bagmati in Nepal is in the Central Development Region. There are 1.5 million people in the Bagmati region of Nepal. 

The Kathmandu valley is in the Bagmati region. The eight districts of Bagmati include Bhaktapur district, Dhading district, Kathmandu district, Lalitpur district, Rasuwa district, Nuwakot district, Kavrepalanchok district and the Sindhulpalchok district. 

The headquarters of Bhaktapur district is Bhaktapur, Dhading district is Dhading, Kathmandu district is Kathmandu, Rasuwa district is Dhunche, Muwakot district is Bidur, Kavrepalanchok district is Dhulikhel and that of Sindhupalchok district is Chautara. 

The river Bhagmati, from which the region of Bhagmati receives its name, is a very sacred river in Nepal. The river separates Kathmandu from Lalitpur. Most of the Hindus in Nepal are cremated along the banks of this holy river. In fact, there goes a fable that before cremation, the dead body must be dipped in the river Bhagmati of Nepal at least three times. The nearby hills provide the grounds for the burial of the dead Kirants. Immediately after the ceremony of cremation is over, the person who lights the funeral pyre, usually the first son takes a dip in Bhagmati. At the end of cremation, the relatives also take bath in the holy river of Bhagmati at Nepal.
 


Janakpur is one of the 14 zone that lies in Nepal. It is named after king Janak who used to rule Janakpur in ancient time. It lies in Central Development Region. Janakpur zone is one of the developing zone of Nepal. 

Janakpur zone contain all three geographical region which are Mountain Region, Hilly Region and Terai Region. Janakpur is the headquarters of this zone. Janakpur zone consist of six district which are Dhanusa, Dholkha, Mahottari, Ramechhap, Sarlahi and Sindhuli. Its neighbouring zones are Bagmati, Narayani and Sagarmatha. The main inhabitants of this zone are Tharu while people from other caste like Brahmins, sherpa, newar, Tamang etc too live here. The main occupation of this zone is Agriculture and Tourism while Trade and Animal Husbandry are side occupation of this zone. The climate of this zone is hot, dry, cold and rainy. Janakpur and its temple area and Sinddhuli etc are one of the important tourist area of this zone.


Sagarmatha zone is a zone in eastern Nepal. This zone includes mountain districts of the Himalayas (including Mount Everest) in the north, hill districts in the center, and valley districts of the Terai in the south. The borders of this zone are China to the north, India to the south, the Koshi Zone of Nepal to the east and the Janakpur Zone of Nepal to the west. 


Mechi is located in the country of Nepal. Mechi is one of the fourteen zones of Nepal. Mechi is divided into four districts. The headquarters of Mechi is Ilam. 

The Ilam District is the part of Mechi zone. The name of Ilam means Twisted that has been derived from a Limbu language. The district of Ilam is one of the most developed areas pf the country of Nepal. Ilam is very famous for the ILAM TEA. This tea is even exported to Europe. This tea export is an excellent source of revenue for the country of Nepal. The major source of revenue in the district f Mechi is tea, milk, cardamom, potato, ginger.

Jhapa is also a district of the zone of Mechi. The district headquarters of Jhapa is Chandragadhi. The population of this area is 688,109 according to the census of the year 2001 and has an area of 1,606 square kilometers. The district o Jhapa is the eastern most district of the country of Nepal. Jhapa is divided into 47 Village Development Committees. 

Tapeljung is also a district of the zone of Mechi. This district is situated in the part of North East in Nepal. This area is very close to the marvelous mountain range of Kanchenjunga. Another district of the Mechi zone is Panchthar District. This district has the population of 202,056 as recorded in the census of 2001. This district covers the area of 1,241 square kilometers.

Koshi is an important place of Nepal. The Koshi is one of the fourteen zones of Nepal. The head quarter of Koshi is Dharan. The largest city of Koshi is Biratnagar. The major rivers in this area is Sapta Kosi, Tamar and Arun. 
The region of Koshi is divided into six districts, which include Sunsari District, Morang District, Bhojpur District, Dhankuta District, Sankhuwasabha District and Terhanthum District. 


The various districts of Koshi account for drawing a large number of tourists both from different parts of Nepal and also fro various parts of the globe. 

The natural beauty of the six districts of Koshi is also no less appealing for attracting a good number of tourists of all ages. Nepal being a land of mountains and hills is highly liked by adventurous people. The food available is also mostly liked by the people and these foods are available at affordable rates. 

The beautiful flowing rivers of the Koshi adds a great value to the number of tourist attractions. These rivers are also used for the purpose of transportation of goods and people. The fresh vegetation alongside the river of the Koshi region also offer an ambiance of freshness to the tourists. Finally it can be said that the Koshi area accommodates a large number of population. The native people are quite cooperative, helpful and they are also very courteous to treat the tourists by giving them a warm welcome.
